Gymno compiles four mostly long-form electronic music pieces that are built around different structural conceits involving loops. They're especially influenced by the generative techniques employed by Eno for Discreet Music and Music for Airports. In trying to grow in terms of composition, I took some ideas from a music theory textbook.

All of the tracks were produced entirely in Ableton; track 3 was recorded to audiocassette and then re-recorded onto a field recorder. For folks looking at the song lengths sideways: I like the utility of a 30 minute instrumental piece in terms of reading, doing work, basking in melancholy, etc. At risk of underselling my creative integrity, the length mostly serves the functional purpose that ambient music serves. Enjoy.
